DOCSIS® 3.0 specifications project data delivery speeds beyond the capabilities of any competing Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology. Using channel bonding, ARRIS products routinely deliver speeds over 100 Mbps in both directions. ARRIS provides multi-service, wideband edge solutions for multimedia content delivery to both legacy and IP enabled CPE – from traditional video edge QAM and DOCSIS 3.0 QAM, with our D5® Universal Edge QAM platform to resource and policy management products for converged IP networks.
ARRIS C4® Cable Modem Termination System
Cable operators require quality and reliability to compete in today’s voice and data arena. The ARRIS C4® CMTS enables these operators to offer world class performance for advanced, carrier-grade voice, high-speed data, and IPTV services. Highly-reliable C4 solutions reduce CAPEX with a highly economical cost-per-port and low operational cost. It reduces OPEX and improves ROI with a compact footprint, low power consumption, and minimal cooling requirements which allow the unit to be placed in existing head-ends and hubs without build out or additional infrastructure, extending head-end life and maximizing capital investment.
Designed for software upgrades of all active components, the C4 CMTS delivers a flexible solution that stays current with changing demand. It provides operators tremendous flexibility of configuration and ease of operation while providing best-in-class reliability.
Because the C4 CMTS offers full DOCSIS® 3.0 upstream and downstream services including channel bonding, operators can configure and deliver high-speed and new convergent services efficiently, bringing increased revenue per customer and improved market responsiveness. The C4 CMTS positions MSOs to operate more profitably and compete more effectively by satisfying subscriber and corporate demand for new services, higher speeds, and superior service quality.
ARRIS C4c™ Cable Modem Termination System
With the ARRIS C4c™ compact-chassis CMTS, operators cost-effectively deploy full-featured DOCSIS® 3.0-based services into space-constrained head-ends and small-to-medium-size systems. The C4c CMTS is also an ideal choice for MSOs rolling out services incrementally, where the capacity – and cost – of a full-scale CMTS is not required.
For rapid deployment, scalability, and flexible management of DOCSIS 3.0 functions, no competitor’s compact-chassis CMTS can match the C4c. C4c solutions scale robustly to 10,000 subscriber devices and efficiently support a wide variety of popular and emerging mobile-landline services. Operators can quickly and profitably respond to subscriber and corporate demand for DOCSIS 3.0 value-added services, IPV, emerging convergent services, and higher data speeds – services that command premium prices and satisfy top-tier customers.
Based upon industry-leading ARRIS engineering, the C4c CMTS delivers hitless failovers, high port densities, wire-speed RF and ethernet transmission, low power consumption, and a small footprint. C4c solutions reduce CAPEX and OPEX through extended headend life, reduced power and cooling requirements, improved network performance, enhanced reliability, and expanded capacity. The C4c CMTS is based upon the industry-leading ARRIS C4® CMTS and offers the same superb manageability, reliability, and customer-pleasing quality of service.
To meet customer expectations today, MSOs must manage a very complex infrastructure to deliver high-performance services with little or no margin of error. For economic as well as customer satisfaction considerations, when incidents do occur it is critical to assess and address them as quickly and efficiently as possible. The ARRIS Spectrum Analyzer (ASA) provides ARRIS C3 and C4 CMTS DOCSIS 2.0 operators with a full-featured platform for routine performance measurement and analyses as well as a high-performance, state-of-the-art, task-specific tool for identifying, diagnosing, and repairing HFC plant and cable modem issues. To rapidly diagnose and resolve uplink problems, ASA develops upstream spectrum profiles and power amplitude traces based upon user-specified channel, modem, and sampling parameters. FFT analyses generate element-specific diagnoses, performance graphs, and corrective recommendations. Support for SNMP enables ASA to provide remote element management for improved MTTR, enhanced QoS, reduced rework, and fewer truck rolls.
The ARRIS Spectrum Analyzer software runs on a PC or laptop and is a flexible framework for managing upstream width, frequency, slot size, channel type, and other parameters to improve reliability and performance. ASA allows operators to ping and browse individual cable modems for configuration, performance, and management data. Spectrum Analyzer’s Modulation Profile Wizard simplifies the application and management of custom and default modulation profiles and parameters. Modem Statistics Browser captures detailed usage information on an entire CMTS, an individual upstream channel, or specific cable modems to enable operators to identify busiest users, percent of channel capacity utilized, number of registered users, and other information critical to superb network performance, reliability and capacity planning.
ARRIS Intelligent Channel Optimizer
Cable operators taking advantage of DOCSIS-based services must specify an array of modulation profile and upstream channel parameters. Without extensive and time-consuming testing, operators cannot be certain the parameters provide maximum upstream speed at acceptable packet error rates or that the parameters apply well to the variety of noise conditions that exist across the range of CMTS units under management. Running on a laptop or PC, the ARRIS Intelligent Channel Optimizer (ICO) uses highly-configurable, non-invasive noise measurements from the RF burst receiver and applies advanced FFT analysis to take the guesswork out of preparing modulation profile and upstream channel settings for C4® and C4c® CMTS DOCSIS 2.0 and DOCSIS 3.0 CAMs.
MSOs optimize performance and reliability of upstream channels with the ARRIS ICO’s high-resolution noise imaging and characterization and with modulation profile alternatives that graphically compare PER and bit rate. For their subscribers, they receive an optimized communications experience. Intelligent Channel Optimizer improves CMTS manageability and MTTR with predictive Packet Error Rate assessments that repair by determining if customer issues are due to RF plant or CMTS configuration. During events, ICO provides expert recommendations on profiles that will stabilize performance until an RF plant issue is resolved; alternatively, ICO can create new modulation profiles if the existing inventory of CMTS profiles does not perform adequately. With the Intelligent Channel Optimizer, network planning is simplified and enhanced through advanced analytics that present MSOs with center-frequency and width recommendations for new channels in unused spectrum as well as other performance-benchmarked options. ICO enables faster repairs, greater operations flexibility, and improved QoS and availability through remote diagnosis and management based upon Telnet, Secure Shell 2, or SNMP.
