C-Band Forward Path TX: CHP CORWave II
1 GHz C-Band Multi-Wavelength Forward Path Transmitter
C-Band Forward Path TX: CHP CORWave II
- Deliver more bandwidth with more reach using the same fiber
- Deploy advanced, high-bandwidth services quickly and cost-effectively with existing fiber
- Conserve fiber, reduce CAPEX, and expand capacity
- Multiply available bandwidth with 16 full-spectrum wavelengths on a single fiber
MSOs need bandwidth to expand services and add customers. Some have unused fiber to put into production, but for others the goal is to pull more and more bandwidth out of the existing infrastructure. With ARRIS CHP CORWave II full-spectrum, multi-wavelength forward transmitters, operators can multiplex up to 16 full-spectrum wavelengths in the forward path over a single fiber in analog, mixed analog/digital and all digital networks. Consolidating upstream links onto a few fibers creates bandwidth on other links for new services and customers. Reuse of the existing fiber leverages existing capital expenditures and minimizes changes to operations and support processes, reducing both CAPEX and OPEX. Operators avoid the complexity and operational expense of traditional DWDM QAM overlay architectures with CHP CORWave II solutions, but get full spectrum broadcasting and narrowcasting at 45 to 1002 MHz with reach of up to 40 km using fixed or variable output power. Operators can also consolidate or eliminate OTN sites, split nodes in distant locations for success-based expansion, and combine broadcast and narrowcast signals in the environmentally-controlled headend for improved reliability and manageability. Complex field set-ups (and rework) are reduced and new services are deployed quickly and reliably. ARRIS advanced multi-wavelength technology reduces or eliminates service interruptions due to optical impairments allowing business and residential services to be run over a common fiber. The CHP CORWave II can be monitored by the CORView Element Management System Software, which provides an intuitive and user-friendly interface for security, discovery, configuration, and inventory functions.
- Allows for use of up to16 full-spectrum ITU wavelengths in the 1550 nm range with 65 km reach (further in an all-digital environment) conserving fiber and providing flexibility for consolidation or elimination of OTNs and node splitting in distant lo
- Supports in headend addition of narrowcast tiers in both analog and digital environments, decreasing system complexity and stranded capital
- Externally modulated transmitters do not require dispersion compensation in redundant architectures and can support repeated amplifications and long links
In an environment where service and capacity strongly influence success, the ability to quickly - and with minimal disruptions - add capacity to existing networks provides operators with a significant competitive advantage. The CHP CORWave II 1 GHz C-Band Multi Wavelength Forward Transmitter in the CHP form factor effectively saves cable operators capital that would otherwise be spent on new fiber runs by the ability to multiplex up to 16 ITU full-spectrum wavelengths in the 1550 nm range over as few as one fiber. The CORWave II ITU multi wavelength plan allows new revenue-generating business services to be run alongside residential services if desired. 65 km reach, and beyond in an all-digital environment, provides the flexibility to consolidate or eliminate OTN sites and to split nodes in distant locations for success-based expansion.
