Operators are pressed to increase services without major investments in expanding the bandwidth of the transport network. The ARRIS Encore multi-channel MPEG-2 encoder provides industry-leading quality, encoding performance, and simplicity of use in a scalable, highly-reliable package. The Encore solution uses advanced pre-processing and filtering plus proprietary dual-pass compression software to more efficiently deliver more channels of digital video with better image quality at lower cost. The Encore provides industry-leading encoding efficiency with low power and cooling requirements and can be configured for up to four channels of hot-swappable encoders per rack unit. The Encore solution’s SNMP monitoring and control interface provides redundancy and failover control plus flexible element management for high reliability.

Proprietary encoder DSPs support both digital and analog connections, PAL and IP media interfaces, and optionally support SCTE-35 digital program insertions as well as DTMF and Contact Closure cue-trigger detection for advanced VOD ad insertion services. Programmable noise filters enable operators to flexibly fine tune the Encore’s output for maximum bandwidth utilization while still meeting SLA quality and performance targets. With the Encore solution, operators increase customer satisfaction and lower OPEX with top-end video quality, improved streaming performance, and reduced operational complexity.
