Large-scale QAM deployments are difficult to monitor and manage efficiently. The volume of infrastructure devices to be controlled – each with its own configuration, software image, hardware inventory, and performance characteristics – challenges MSOs to administer QAMs effectively and deliver high-quality, high-reliability services. The ARRIS D5 Application Manager simplifies and eases management of large-scale D5 UEQ deployments with user-friendly surveillance and flexible, efficient device monitoring and management tools.
D5 Application Manager provides extensive monitoring capability on transport streams, event logs, hardware status, and environmental telemetry to automatically alert operators of device variances and issues affecting service quality and performance. Operators set up Application Manager to address a specified set of D5 UEQs on the network and App Manager automatically discovers and displays information on all UEQs found. App Manager runs on a network server or PC and handles up to 200 D5 UEQs simultaneously, providing a unified view and single point of control of large, complex QAM operations.
Operators can easily and securely provision Privacy Mode Encryption for selected QAM channels, enabling delivery of encrypted VOD content. QAM parameter changes are easy to apply and propagate with the Application Manager Batch Configuration tool’s simple-to-use, spreadsheet screens and bulk propagation services. The D5 Application Manager also enables rapid, efficient software image polling and software upgrades across sets of QAMs. For MSOs this means reduced error and OPEX and increased quality, performance, and satisfaction.
